Money. We never seem to have enough, but it seems extra tight right now. It could be the large dental bills that we are both accruing, the fun spending we keep doing (even though we know we shouldn’t,) or just life in 2007 with a baby and one income.
I am afraid we are falling into a cycle that we can’t break. And, with plans of going back to school, we need to get on top of things. We have made sacrifices, cut most of the extras in the budget, and are committed to fixing our finances.
One option I’ve been looking into is getting a home equity loan. Since you can lock in a low interest rate and have possible tax benefits there are some advantages. Nevada Home Equity Loans is a great resource. I really like their expert advice section including realistic loan calculators. I entered the figures for the mortgage we have now, and their estimate was less than $10.00 off. It seems many websites like this show a low estimate to get your business. They also let you prequalify to see how much you will save and give you loan quotes instantly with no obligation. Definitely worth looking into.
